Mechanical Architect
Job description
THE ROLE
You will architect the mechanical foundations of sophisticated high-tech systems including lithography equipment, wafer inspection tools, precision motion systems, and analytical instruments. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you translate customer requirements into mechanical specifications and conceptual designs that enable nanometer-level precision and ultra-high reliability in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
You define mechanical architectures for complex capital equipment where thermal stability, vibration isolation, and precision positioning are critical to system performance. Your designs directly impact the production capabilities of advanced semiconductor processes and analytical measurement systems used in cutting-edge research and manufacturing facilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Translate customer needs into mechanical specifications and define system architecture for semiconductor capital equipment and precision instrumentation
Design conceptual mechanical solutions for lithography systems, wafer handling equipment, and analytical measurement tools
Specify test protocols and integration requirements following V-model development methodology for high tech systems
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through complex mechanical design challenges in precision motion and positioning systems
Define mechanical budgets and tolerance allocation for nanometer-precision semiconductor manufacturing equipment
Drive innovation by introducing advanced mechanical technologies and solutions for ultra-high precision applications
Conduct stakeholder management across customer interfaces and internal project teams for large-scale capital equipment projects
Mentor mechanical designers and engineers in precision mechanics and Design for Excellence principles
Job requirements
MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
10-15 years of experience in complete design cycles for high-tech complex systems
Proven expertise in semiconductor capital equipment design and precision mechanics
Deep knowledge of Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost, and Reliability (DfX)
Strong analytical skills with experience in precision system tolerance analysis
Technical leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams
